Congratulations to Ms. Monica Robbins for being selected as a member of the 2022 West Teach class!

Ms. Robbins is a third grade teacher of Holice Powell School in Dyer County. She currently serves on the Leadership Team at her school, as well as, the Community and Family Involvement Committee. She is very committed to the students at her school and serves as a TN Corps after school tutor 3 days a week as well. At the state level, she is currently serving on the Tennessee Textbook Commission. Ms. Robbins is a frequent presenter at the Tennessee Science Teachers Association Conference that is held yearly in Murfreesboro, TN. She is an active volunteer at the McIver’s Grant Public Library. This summer, she will work for the Tennessee Department of Education as an item reviewer for English/Language Arts Content. She is a two- time Teacher of the Year recipient at her school. Robbins is excited to participate in West Teach and looks forward to learning ways to connect her classroom to the West Tennessee community.

The Giving Room at Newbern Elementary School will be open on May 21, 2022, from 9am-12pm.

The Giving Room is a room full of donated clothes, shoes, hygiene products, and so much more. We’re opening the the doors before summer, so that our students and their families have an opportunity to browse the room for items they may need for the summer months.

Parents, please be on the lookout for a 2022 Choctaw Summer Learning Camp application! Applications are being sent home as early as today.
Forms for summer learning camps have been sent home. We need a response for every student so please return those as soon as possible.
Spring picture proofs will be going home in the next couple of days. The order form and payment are due by April 1, 2022.
